Taking care of your bamboo cutlery

Bamboo is the one of the fastest growing plants on earth and has anti-bacterial properties because of which it can be harvested without the use of pesticides. Though bamboo is a grass it is stronger, durable and lighter than wood.

Its is an extremely versatile material and because of its properties, they can be made into reusable and biodegradable cutlery which can replace one time plastics.

When using utensils made of bamboo or any natural materials, a little care and maintenance goes a long way to increase it’s life.

Here are some tips to help you take a better care of them...

Bamboo straws and glasses

Bamboo glasses and straws are very strong and durable. They are naturally sourced and entirely handmade thereby decreasing carbon footprints and machine waste. They can also last a long time if taken good care of.

Caring for you bamboo straws and glasses

  • After you’ve done sipping on your favourite drink, hand-wash the glasses and straws under soapy water.

  • Do not soak your glasses and straws in the water for a long time.

  • Instead of using harsh detergents, use a spoonful of baking soda or vinegar with water to thoroughly clean them.

  • If possible, clean immediately after use and air-dry them.

  • Once they’re cleaned, store them in a dry place.

  • It is advisable to clean the cutlery immediately after use. Scrape all the food particles with a scrub pad or cloth.

  • Hand-wash your utensils with a mild soapy water. Do not put them in the dishwasher.

  • Towel dry your utensils afterwards and store them in a dry place.

  • Make sure to apply coconut oil with a cloth once a week or if they get too dry to help them last longer.
